Kookaburras and Capybaras

Fairly early on in this week's chapter of Four Weddings and an Asgardian Funeral, Loki threatens to turn Thor into a kookaburra, and Thor responds by confusing kookaburras with capybaras. This meant I had to go to Google to check my spelling of both words, which provided me with the perfect opportunity to get distracted online by cute photos/videos of animals.

What Is a Kookaburra, Anyway?

If you live in an English-speaking country and you went to summer camp as a kid, you might remember singing the song "Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree." But unless you live in Australia or you've taken the time to either visit them at a zoo or Google them, you might not know what a kookaburra actually looks or sounds like.

Guess what, guys? They're effin' adorable, especially the "laughing" sound they make.

Capybaras Are Also Effin' Adorable

Capybaras are close relatives of the guinea pig you might have had as a classroom pet in elementary school. They're native to South America and grow to be about one hundred pounds (45 kg), making them real life Rodents of Unusual Size (R.O.U.S.). That would be cute enough, but they're also super chill around both other animals and people. In fact, at the time of this post, if you Google "Earth's friendliest animal," Google will tell you it's the capybara!

Or try doing a Google image search for capybaras with other animals. You'll see them getting cuddly with monkeys, dogs, birds, turtles, goats, cats, etc.
